Engagement
How the work is contracted
The right contracting model depends on how well defined the requirement is. Where scope can be written down, a fixed-scope project is usually the cheapest and least stressful option for both sides. Where it cannot yet, a short assessment phase produces the specification that a fixed-scope project can then be priced against.
- Fixed-scope project
- A defined specification, acceptance criteria, milestones and a fixed price, with change controlled in writing.
- Managed delivery
- Astri Devs takes responsibility for planning and delivering an agreed outcome over a defined period.
- Prime contractor
- Astri Devs contracts directly with the buying organisation and holds accountability for the whole delivery.
- Subcontractor
- Astri Devs delivers a defined technical workstream beneath another supplier or systems integrator.
- Delivery partner
- Longer-term technical partnership alongside an in-house team, with clearly separated responsibilities.
- Support and maintenance
- Ongoing support for a system Astri Devs built, or took over, under agreed response arrangements.
- Technology supply and integration
- Supply of specified hardware, software or communications technology, integrated and handed over as a working solution.
Scope
What we do not do
Being clear about this saves everybody time. Astri Devs does not provide general IT support or managed desktop services, does not resell software licensing as a standalone business, and does not take on work where the only viable approach is a technology nobody here has operated in production. Where a requirement needs a specialist we do not have, we say so and, where it helps, point to someone who does.
